Strong points in favour of this project;-

1.It’s a project which will cost nothing – being more than paid for by the sale of commercial and residential premises, not to mention enormous revenue from future tourism.

2.It will revive the port of Cherbourg as a tourist destination and ‘place to visit’, with a busy promenade which encourages tourists and locals to linger in the town, spend money there, or simply spend time enjoying it, rather than buying cheap alcohol and leaving ASAP.

3. It will generate enormous long-term revenue for the town, both from tourism, rentals of commercial premises and taxes.

4. A lively, attractive promenade will attract the big commercial brand names for the waterside shops e.g. Haagen Daaz, Gucci, Dior, Yves St. Laurent,- as in other similar global locations.

5. Above all, Cherbourg will be a beautiful place once again, a worthy gateway to Normandy – and a pride to the inhabitants - Like Honfleur, Nice or La Rochelle!
