The Zone des Bassins – the current Carrefour hypermarche area in centre ville Cherbourg, is earmarked for redevelopment.

The object of this petition is to encourage the Mayor and Commune of Cherbourg, with their especially talented municipal gardeners, in improving the town, and to assess whether there is enough public support for an alternative to the current scheme.

Cherbourg is presently a functional entrance port into France, where few stop other than to buy cheap wine and beer – this redevelopment represents an outstanding opportunity to put the town back on the map as a worthy introduction to the natural and historical wonders of La Manche – and as a ‘Place To Visit’.
